This article is for those sceptics who like to have a scientific explanation for everything including the existence of God.

Did God create the universe and mankind? Perhaps not quite in the way that Christians are used to thinking about creation based on our knowledge of the Bible.

Modern science now says that there is no evidence of a point of singularity representing the creation of the universe from nothing. It seems that the universe has always existed, is infinite , expangimg ing and undergoing continual regeneration and decay. Matter and energy are interchangeable and the total amount of energy is constant.

So how does this all sit with the Bible version. "For by him were all things created, that are in the heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible ". Is this an allegory to explain the power and importance of God in our lives?

God is the all-knowing, all-loving and guiding force of the energy which is the universe. We are all part of that energy albeit at varying levels of energy. The physical man is a low level of energy visible to the senses while the spiritual man is at a higher and invisible level. At the moment we don't quite understand everything, "we see through a glass darkly ".

Genesis describes reo creation of an entity called man. The first in God's image and likeness " and the second "made by the lord god from the dust of the ground". The first description is that of the spiritual child of God and the second descibes the physical man. The fact that the dust was already there supports the idea that the universe was already in existence. The spiritual man , or soul, is the real child of God. Like God, the spiritual man has always existed and is a unique combination of God's thoughts.

At some point in the evolution of mankind the human brain became capable of understanding the concept of God. At that point God imbued man's consciousness with his soul. Our soul is eternal and is reflected in our consciousness but it does not reside there. When the human body dies this reflection fades but it remains an integral part of the divine Mind forever.

In the Garden of Eden mankind claimed to be a god in his own right and the creator of everything thus denying his spiritual birthright. God sent Jesus to redeem us and to provide a path back whereby we "might claim the spirit of adoption".

The physical body is subjected to random disease and death as part of the natural and inevitable evolutionary process while the spiritual child is perfect and harmonious . The goal of the spiritual child is "to have that mind in us which was also in Christ Jesus ". "This is life eternal that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent".

When we pray to for a healing, God will intervene in our lives to give us more time to gain a better understanding of Him. Modern science is now able to extract T-cells , reprogram them to do new function thua restoring the body's functions. God is able to reprogram our brain to do all this as well as giving us the opportunity to develop our souls.
