In the third century BC Plato described God as the Supreme Form or Soul and as having oneness, goodness, perfection and infinite intelligence. He saw human life as the shadow of the ideal "Form" which was the true and highest version of reality. He believed that the individual should strive to find its way back to its "form" which is hidden by the cloud of its senses. A 21st Century AD version of this philosophy informed by Jesus's teaching is as follows.
God is obviously not a physical being. God is divine Mind or the repository of all intelligence and divine ideas. Therefore, God's children made in God's image are not physical beings either. God's children "live and move and have their being in God". How do we know that the real child of God is made up of ideas and not a physical body? These ideas are part of the substance of God but they are not God. They are intimate part of God having "their being in God "as Paul says. Jesus's ascension and resurrection demonstrated that his real being was independent of a physical body. John explains that, like Jesus, "we are the children of God" but we don't know what this means as yet because we haven't understood Jesus's message: because we are thinking of God's child as being a human. Jesus is the child of God and so are we through redemption; through the "spirit of adoption". Therefore our real being is also independent of our bodies. Our task whilst we are in our bodies is is to hope and pray to have that "mind in us which was also in Christ Jesus" then we shall be like him: Our soul shall reflect the perfection of God.
God
The one true God is eternal, omniscient and omnipotent. God is Love, Life, Spirit and Truth. God is the supreme intelligence, the repository of all creative ideas and thoughts. These are not the thoughts of everyday human existence which are hard-wired into our DNA or learned. The everyday thoughts which control the body's functioning, socializing and emotions. These higher thoughts allow us to contemplate the very existence of God. They are altruistic thoughts of love, life, truth and spirit in their purest forms.
God's children
God's children are spiritual beings or souls made up of a unique combination of god's thoughts, made in God's "image and likeness". This spiritual being is our soul which exists (lives) in the spiritual realm (God's consciousness). Our soul expresses God's ideas to various degrees but it is not God although it is part of God.
Our soul is reflected in our human consciousness. The reflection can become clouded over by materiality and self ego so that we lose sight of God. Our mission on this earth is to restore the perfect image in our consciousness : "to have that mind in us which was also in Christ Jesus".
Love
Love are those thoughts of adoration of God and Jesus Christ; 'thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength and with all thy mind, and thy neighbour as thy self". These thoughts of love are benevolent, unconditional and enduring.
Life
Life is the knowledge of God; "this is life eternal, that they should know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent". The knowledge of God's thoughts which comprise our soul and the ability to communicate with God.
Spirit
The spirit motivates our thoughts to adore and communicate with God.
Truth
the truth about God and our real being was revealed to us by Jesus Christ. He taught us how to restore our soul to its birthright; "that we might gain the spirit of adoption whereby we may cry, Abba, Father". There is only one God and that God is eternal, unchanging, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free".
Spiritual realm
The spiritual realm is God's consciousness or the "ether" made up of all God's ideas within which our soul exists and interacts; "seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you".
